Our New Distrct Governor

Our new District Governor Deb Frugtniet and her husband Craig visited us on Wednesday night. Deb joined Rotary as it gave her a place to belong, an opportunity to serve and a chance to make a difference alongside people who cared deeply about their communities. As District Governor, she is committed to supporting clubs, listening to members and helping create an environment where people feel connected , valued and inspired. We look forward to supporting her endeavours in the year to come.

Changeover dinner 2026

The Changeover dinner each year is an opportunity to reflect and to celebrate achievements. It was a lovely evening and hosted with style by the Southport Golf Club and well supported by the Probus club as well as several new members, as well as inducting new member Joanna Yuan (Yan Yan's mum).

Thank you to Marcia Waller for organizing a wonderful changeover dinner. We all look forward to the next club social activity.

Reading at Ashmore State School

AThis term,  the Rotary Club of Ashmore was pleased to partner with Ashmore SS by donating $5000 to enable the school to purchase additional sets of decodable readers to enhance the school’s reading program.  In addition, Club members have been visiting the school once a week to work one-on-one with Grade 2 readers.  The students are a delight, and participating Rotarians are enjoying the experience just as much as the students.

Meet the Boss

Our club President organized a “Meet the Boss” night

On Wednesday night the 6th of May President Owen organized a “Meet the Boss” - Learn, dine and network meeting for Rotary members and prospective members at the Southport Golf Club.

Our guests were Ian Cameron CEO of Sporty's Warehouse and James Salerno from Ringers Western.

Ian and James spent some time recounting their experiences setting up their businesses.

It was an extremely successful night of fellowship, information, networking and encouragement for prospective members of our club. The night also offered the opportunity for those interested in joining our club to find out further details of what we do and when and where we meet.

A Scrumptious meal

A night of fellowship was enjoyed by all.

 

On Wednesday night the 20th of August we had a scrumptious menu of edible delights provided by Ian & Heather Yarker. We also heard from a number of RYPEN nominees from local Secondary Schools. A mum of one of the nominees then spoke glowingly about the support provided by our club to a previous nominee and how it eventually led to the nominee's nomination to the London Science Forum and networking with past winners of the Nobel Peace Prize.

Ashmore Rotary assists NSW flood recovery
AThis is the POD that our Rotary Club has contributed $10000.00 towards in the Northern Rivers of NSW. Cheree was badly affected by the floods in West Ballina with one metre of flood water flowing through her house. We hope that she will be able to re-establish her child care centre and move forward with her life.
